Riding On Report Summer 2020

The Jo Dearnley Memorial Award and the Good Joint Award were scheduled for presentation at the proposed Ulysses Club AGM on September 26. However, like many other events, Covdid-19 put paid to that and as a consequence there are no more timely opportunities to publicly announce the winners of the awards for 2020.

As the Ulysses Club UCARF Coordinator I am proud to announce the winners are as follows –

The Jo Dearnely Memorial Award recipient for 2020 is Lockyer Branch.

The Good Joint Award recipients for 2020 is the Wellington members of the Dubbo and Western Plains Branch.

Congratulations to both and the club is not only proud of your fund- raising achievements but hugely grateful of your generosity for our great cause.

The Jo Dearnley Memorial Award shield [as pictured] has winner engravings since 1997 with space left for only one more. A new shield will need to be created for 2021.

I do not often brag but back in 1997 I was Nepean Branch president when we won the inaugural shield. However the

we may have caught everybody else napping.

The following donations from Ulysses Club branches and members have been received since the last published list in the spring edition of Riding On 2020.

This list is in no particular order other than when received by the club.

Northern Gateway Branch $300.00, Echuca Branch $1,000.00, Enterprises $550.00, Lower Murray Branch $500.00.

Congratulations Newcastle Lower Hunter Branch on your 25th anniversary, thank you for the celebrations invite and your continuing UCARF support.

The NLH post celebrations morning breakfast produced an vegetable shopping bags and donates the sales proceeds to UCARF.

Thank you very much Northern Gateway, Echuca and Lower Murray for your generosity in these lean pandemic times.

The UCARF Patch Campaign has been progressing along very nicely during September and October resulting in curator Ken Eaton depositing $550.00 into the UCARF account. Sales have slowed of late and I ask members to consider this modest purchase and support.

My order is on its way and I challenge all national committee members to follow suit if they have not already done so.

Details are in the last edition of Riding On or contact Ken and Chloe ken@ucarf.com.

I wish to pay my respects of the recent passing of the late Cam McDonald, past national secretary and life member and a lovely gentleman to boot.
